Experience:

• 48 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 3 months of travel experience is required.

• Experience with Epic is required.

• Trauma Level 2 experience is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a license (required for submission).

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• No current placement allowed at Program: Vaya Workforce Solutions - Boston Children’s Hospital.

Additional Details:

You must be able to complete labs within 48 hours of signing.

Required Skills/Experience: Pediatric ECMO. Priming ECMO circuits. ECMO Specialist experience operating ECMO equipment on patients is required. Bedside pump management, putting together circuit, priming, managing a CentriMag, mag pumps, changing out circuit, routine management, and operating equipment. Ability to respond in less than 10 min. Understand and respond to clots. Must be familiar with centrifugal ECMO, not roller pump.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Previous Charge Experience: Preferred. Teaching hospital experience is preferred.

Required Credentials: RRT or RRT-NPS.

Preferred Credentials: CES-P. E-NPEC.

Unit Details: Hybrid Registered Respiratory Therapist and ECMO Specialist role providing general neonatal/pediatric respiratory critical care and operating ECMO systems on critically ill patients. If no ECMO assignment is available, will backfill as a Respiratory Therapist. Responsibilities include administering blood products and medications, drawing labs from the circuit, traveling with the patient, and providing in-room support. Neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, and adult patient population. Patient population includes congenital heart defects, RDS, PPHN/MAS, ARDS, reactive airways disease, restrictive lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, trach/vent dependence, pulmonary interstitial emphysema, air leak syndromes, and general surgery, cardiac surgery, airway surgery, neurosurgery, and organ transplant patients.

Shift & Scheduling: Every third weekend required.

Floating Requirements: When not functioning as an ECMO Specialist, RT/ECMO Specialists function within the Medical ICU, Intermediate Care, Neonatal ICU, Cardiac ICU, Medical/Surgical ICU, and Emergency Department providing respiratory care.

7 days maximum time off

2 Manager/Supervisor references required

• RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist)

• RRT-NPS (Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty)

• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
