The Pharmacy Practice Resident (“Resident”) provides clinical services, staffing services, and drug information services to patients, providers, nurses, and other pharmacists as a primary responsibility. The Pharmacy Practice Resident must also successfully complete all of the goals, objectives, and requirements of the Residency Program as set forth by the HCA Florida Memorial Hospital Residency Program Manual (“Residency Manual”).
Resident shall complete the goals and objectives of the residency program as defined in the Residency Manual. There overall goals include, but are not limited to, the completion of all rotations in a satisfactory manner, the completion of a research project and Quality Improvement Project or DUE, provision of an ACPE accredited continuing education seminar, completion of evaluations/self-assessments, and development of a manuscript suitable for publication. Residents must obtain “achieved for residency” status on 80% of program goals for successful graduation.
Demonstrates competence when completing patient care based on the following:
Evaluates the complexity of the patient’s medication condition and underlying clinical status
Accurately enters medication orders on the computerized pharmacy profile
Reviews patient profile for allergy, drug-drug, drug-food, drug-disease interactions and duplicate therapy
Validates that all medication for patients of all ages are filled with the proper drug, dosage form, strength and quantity
Contacts and confers with physician if there are any questions or clarifications needed in the processing or monitoring of drug therapy
Identifies interventions on the computerized pharmacy profile
