Job Summary and Qualifications

The Clinical Nurse coordinates nursing care for the patient; participates in patient / family education and provides leadership by coordinating patient care and working collaboratively with ancillary staff and other patient care personnel in maintaining standards of professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.

What you will do in this role: 

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Responsible for knowing and following the Rules and Regulations relating to the professional nurse education, licensure, and practice as set forth in the Nursing Practice Act and the Texas Occupations Code and Statutes regulating the practice of professional nursing.
  • All employees will be held accountable for attending training regarding the Code of Conduct program at least annually.
  • Expectations Ethics and Compliance 1. All employees will be held accountable for behaviors displayed relative to the values articulated in the Mission and Values Statement. “Will act with absolute honest, integrity and fairness in the way we conduct our business and the way we live our lives.”
  • Administers medications in a safe, knowledgeable, and accurate manner.
  • Carries out physician orders including treatments and procedures, in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Coordinates care to include preadmission, admission, hospitalization, pre discharge and after discharge where applicable.
  • Determines and prioritizes specific patient educational needs. Promotes interactive communication, encourages patient participation in care decisions, and promotes healthy lifestyles.
  • Exhibits professional behavior that demonstrates a commitment to providing quality patient care and is supportive of a professional working environment.
  • Follows laws, regulations, and hospital policy regarding controlled substances.
  • Identifies own professional development and clinical learning needs, communicates them to management, and shares in the responsibility for fulfilling those needs.
  • Observes patient, and records significant conditions and/or reactions to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents. Notification of any such condition and/or reaction will follow the established chain of command.
  • Participates in hospital activities that identify and reduce the risk of acquiring and transmitting infections among patients, employees, physicians, volunteers, students, visitors, and others.
  • Participates in hospital performance improvement activities to improve patient outcomes.
  • Performs other duties as required, including the unit specific duties as identified on the Criteria Based Performance Appraisal, and by the Nurse Manager/Director.
  • Promotes an atmosphere of collaboration and teamwork in all settings and circumstances. Shares acquired knowledge and skills with other members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Promotes and provides a safe, functional, supportive and effective environment for patients, staff members, and other individuals in the hospital. 

What qualifications you will need:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • (RN) Registered Nurse
  • Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
