Job Title: Registered Nurse – Cath Lab - PRN

Location: Carroll Hospital, 200 Memorial Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157
Schedule: PRN (2-3 shifts per month, including participation in call schedule)

Job Summary:

Carroll Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) - Cath Lab - PRN to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will deliver direct nursing care to patients in the Cath Lab and recovery areas, while adhering to established protocols, ensuring patient safety, and contributing to team collaboration. You will also participate in on-call shifts as part of the staffing requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care & Documentation: Collect and document patient health data while ensuring privacy and confidentiality. Apply growth and development principles and nursing processes in all aspects of patient care.

  • Communication & Collaboration: Communicate effectively with physicians, patients, families, and associates to ensure comprehensive patient care plans are developed, understood, and implemented.

  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all hospital policies, including infection control measures, medication administration protocols, and safety procedures.

  • Resource Coordination: Coordinate human, material, and financial resources for patient care, ensuring proper resources are available for patient discharge.

  • Outcome Variance Management: Address outcome variances by coordinating interventions with the patient’s medical care team and family.

  • Infection Control: Implement precautions to prevent hospital-acquired infections and injuries, and ensure strict adherence to universal precautions.

  • Falls & Restraint Prevention: Conduct frequent rounding and implement interventions to avoid falls and minimize restraint use. Document restraints and patient observers as per policy.

  • Medication Administration: Follow medication administration policies, including medication reconciliation and the 5 Rights, while utilizing safety equipment and nursing procedures.

  • Quality & Regulatory Compliance: Participate in hospital initiatives to meet regulatory standards and National Patient Safety Goals, including Never Events.

  • Critical Thinking & Clinical Judgment: Utilize strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in all patient care situations.

  • Leadership & Teamwork: Support and mentor peers, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and demonstrate leadership in daily duties. Contribute to an effective, supportive work environment and help resolve complaints or disputes.

  • Cath Lab & Recovery Area Operations: Operate equipment in the CV Lab and Cath recovery areas, ensuring adherence to sterile and aseptic techniques.

  • Patient Preparation & Post-Procedure Care: Prepare patient rooms per scheduled procedures and individual patient needs, while ensuring appropriate post-procedure care.

  • Education & Professional Development: Participate in in-service training and departmental meetings to enhance professional growth. Attend educational programs to stay current with best practices in nursing and cardiology.

  • Call Coverage: Participate in the on-call schedule, responding promptly when required and assisting with the coordination of care for emergency procedures.

Requirements:

  • Licensing: Maryland RN license or compact license if residing in PA.

  • Certifications: AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required.

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in Cath Lab, Emergency Department, or Critical Care.

  • Proximity: Must live within 30 minutes of Carroll Hospital for on-call shift requirements.

  • Skills: Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and teamwork skills are essential for this role.
