Job Summary and Qualifications 

Infusion nurses administers various therapies such as intravenous antibiotics, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and blood products. The Infusion Nurse will also promote a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families and all members of the care delivery team.

About this unit:

  • We take care of complex oncology and infusion patients in a supportive environment that fosters teamwork.
  • Patient population is often recurring, which in turn we build relationships with them and their families.
  • Clinic open Monday – Friday 7:30a - 5pm; Part-time position (2 shifts per week)
  • Ability to cross train in Medical Oncology, GYN Oncology and Infusion.

  Responsibilities:

  • The role of the Registered Nurse is to perform patient care under the direction of the Clinical Nurse Manager.
  • The Registered nurse provides therapeutic and administrative services necessary for the care of the patient, and in support of the mission of Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
  • The Registered Nurse in this department provides care for adult patients between 18 to 64 years and geriatric patients 65 years and older.

What Qualifications You Will Need:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with either an ADN or BSN degree.
  • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation. BLS is required upon hire. Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Card from Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) preferred within first 6 months of hire; required within first year of hire. Certified Oncology Nurse (OCN) from Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) preferred. 
  • Prior experience in a similarly sized facility with similar services provided is preferred. Previous emergency, pre-hospital or critical care preferred. Previous oncology experience is strongly preferred.
