Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in an outpatient oncology setting, including assessment, care planning, and evaluation of treatment effectiveness.

  • Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, and other oncology-related medications safely in accordance with established protocols.

  • Monitor and manage treatment side effects and coordinate appropriate interventions.

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated and holistic patient care.

  • Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans, symptom management, and self-care strategies.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).

  • Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and continuing education programs.

  • Uphold institutional policies, professional standards, and safety regulations in all aspects of care delivery.

Minimal Qualifications
Education

  • Associate's degree in Nursing required
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
  • If prepared at the associate degree in nursing level required to enroll in a BSN program within 12 months of hire date and completion within 4 years of hire date.

Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent RN experience in an acute care or ambulatory care setting required.

  • Previous oncology or infusion experience highly required.

  • Familiarity with chemotherapy administration, symptom management, and patient education in oncology strongly desired.

Licenses and Certifications

  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in the District of Columbia required
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required
  • Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.
  • C-EFM - Electronic Fetal Monitoring from the National Certification Corporation (NCC) is required for Perinatal nurses (labor and delivery antepartum antenatal testing) within 12 months from date of hire. New graduate nurses or new to specialty nurses (labor and delivery antepartum antenatal testing) will have 15 months from date of hire to obtain the EFM certification.
This position has a hiring range of : USD $40.17 - USD $65.31 /Hr.
