Position Summary:

Carroll Hospital, part of the LifeBridge Health system, is seeking a Registered Nurse (PRN) specializing in IV/PICC access to join our dedicated patient care team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based care, following LifeBridge Health protocols, policies, and clinical standards.

This PRN role requires flexibility, strong clinical assessment skills, and IV/PICC expertise to support patients across multiple departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow standard IV access protocols, guidelines, and LBH hospital procedures.

  • Evaluate and document patient assessments, including physical/emotional pain and comfort needs.

  • Prioritize patient/family needs and incorporate into the care plan.

  • Identify and document educational needs to support informed healthcare decisions and successful care transitions.

  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families.

  • Develop and coordinate discharge plans independently or collaboratively.

  • Demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving, and professional behavior.

  • Conduct hourly rounding to ensure patient satisfaction and safety.

  • Participate in care team meetings and peer review processes.

  • Delegate tasks effectively to ensure timely and accurate care delivery.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for coordinated care.

  • Stay current with nursing research, best practices, and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Be knowledgeable about Nurse Sensitive Indicators (NSIs) and policies aimed at reducing them.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON)

  • Certifications: Current BLS certification (AHA) required

  • Experience:

    • IV and PICC access experience required

    • Prior acute care or hospital-based RN experience strongly preferred
