Experience:

• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 12 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months worked in the last 3 years.

• Travel experience is required.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

• Trauma Level 1 experience is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Illinois license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• 12 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare.

Additional Details:

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to.

Required Skills/Experience: - Must have prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit. - Must have heparin gtt experience.

Special Requests: - Scheduling requests are considered, and block scheduling may be possible with staffing.

Unit Details: - Nurse-patient ratios: Day shift 1:4-5; nights 1:5-6. - Common diagnoses/patient population: stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, other neuroscience patients, and some medical overflow. - RNs titrate heparin drips based on PTT. - High-flow oxygen for stable COVID patients only. - House-wide telemetry; nurses do not need to read their own strips. Uses Phillips monitors. - Charge nurse and house supervisor are available 24/7; charge nurses do not take assignments unless the unit is short and nurses would otherwise be above ratios. - Nurse aides/patient care techs are on the unit; ratios are 1:9-10 on days and evenings and 1:10-12 on nights.

Shift & Scheduling: - Every other weekend; Saturday and Sunday are considered the weekend on both shifts. - Every other holiday. - No call.

Floating Requirements: - Float in rotation with the rest of staff. General unit travelers float to general unit floors and take a full team. If floated outside of a general unit, this is only for urgent need, and assignments are limited to skills the clinician is competent to perform with a nurse trained for that unit.

7 days maximum time off

1 Charge/Lead reference required from within the last 12 months

1 reference required from within the last 3 years

Driver’s license required for submission
