Summary

Position Summary:

The Social Worker  - Inpatient Psych acts as a coordinator of psychosocial assessment and discharge planning for the patients/clients receiving inpatient psychiatric services at the Hospital, providing leadership and psychosocial support necessary to address the individual's needs. Acting as a resource to patient/client, utilizes knowledge of community and health care resources to assist in addressing identified needs at any point of the continuum, pre-admission to post-discharge. Using timeliness and appropriateness of intervention, facilitates quality resource utilization. i.e., Length of stay and level of care.

UNIT SUMMARY: Behavioral Health and 4C provide general, acute care for inpatient adults who may be suffering for mental or behavioral health issues. The 4C unit has a capacity of 14 beds, while the BHU census capacity is 23 beds. Patients in these units may have be depressed, schizophrenic, or struggle with substance abuse or a mood disorder. In addition to the BHU and 4C, staff works in a 6-bed area of the ER, referred to as the Psych West Pod, which can house adults, adolescents or children. The majority of nursing staff in this area cross train to all three areas. Staff members in these areas must be positive and outgoing, and must utilize strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Seasoned professional knowledge, equivalent to a Master's degree
  • Graduate of a Master's degree program in social work, psychology, or other appropriate degree
  • 3-5 years of experience preferred
  • Maryland Licensed LCSW license, LMSW candidates will also be considered
