Experience:
• 2 years of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.
• 2 years of Telemetry Float Pool experience with 12 months within the last 36 months (3 years).
• Experience with Epic is preferred.
Requirements:

Cannot be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity within the past year.
Unit Details: Unit coverage includes 7th Floor surgical cases, including abdominal surgeries, trauma, and Whipple procedures; 8BC long-term low-acuity patients awaiting placement and patients on long-term antibiotic therapy; 9th Floor general medical cases, both chronic and acute; 2 South short-stay, cardiac, and COVID patients; 3 South neuro patients; 4 South orthopedic and spine patients; and 10th Floor Med/Surg Oncology. The ER Transition Unit is adjacent to the ER and holds Med/Surg patients awaiting Med/Surg beds. Its ERT area has no specific patient restrictions and its own telemetry monitoring; the CDU is a rapid cardiac decision unit with curtained areas between beds and its own telemetry monitoring; and the MSW area is a Med/Surg transition area with curtained areas between beds, some infection-prevention exclusion criteria, and mostly general Med/Tele patients. Most drips are at a set rate; RNs can titrate up to the maximum per med-surg guideline, with transfer to critical care if the maximum is reached. Common titratable and/or set-rate drips include insulin, heparin, nitro up to 30mcg, dobutamine up to 5mcg, dopamine up to 5 mcg, and Cardizem up to 30 mcg only for patients already on oral Cardizem; Cardizem may not be used for new-onset arrhythmias. Respiratory support includes CPAP, BiPAP, and tracheostomies; there are no ventilators. Telemetry is monitored remotely by telemetry technicians, who measure and read strips; RNs verify that the readings are correct. RNs may be assigned as CNAs when RN staffing is short or as entrance screeners if needed.
Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend. 1-2 winter holidays are required. Call or standby is required up to 4 times during the contract.
Floating Requirements: The primary assignment is St. Joseph Medical Center; if needed, travelers will be required to float throughout Region Two: St. Clare Hospital – Lakewood, WA; St. Elizabeth Hospital – Enumclaw, WA; and St. Joseph Medical Center – Tacoma, WA. Travelers will be required to float to cover the entire Med/Surg/Telemetry division and may also float to alternate Med/Surg/Telemetry units. Scheduling is based on staffing needs across the entire Med/Surg/Telemetry division.
