Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience:
RNs must be able to read and interpret strips and have experience with set-rate Cardizem and Amiodarone.

Preferred Skills/Experience:
Experience with TR Bands would be a huge plus.

Special Requests:
Artificial nails are not allowed for any travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed.
If a candidate worked at a permanent facility in the last 12 months, one reference must be from that permanent facility.
For current/previous employee eligibility, cumulative experience applies for previous travelers.
At least one reference must be from the same unit or specialty as the job.
All time-off requests must be made up front and included in the contract. Requests for time off after that must be approved by the facility; the manager may consider occasional requests for a day off based on the needs of the unit.

Unit Details:
Patient population includes pre-/post-cath patients, chest-pain rule-outs on heparin drips, COPD, CHF, pacemaker patients, arrhythmias, and other Med-Surg diagnoses.
RNs do not titrate drips. The unit uses only set-rate Cardizem and Amiodarone; occasional drips include Bumex and Lasix.
A monitor is available on the unit for real-time viewing.
The unit does not use high-flow oxygen. BiPAP and CPAP are used for supportive therapy only; patients dependent on BiPAP or CPAP would probably be transferred to a higher-acuity unit.
The unit is very busy and fast-paced, with up to 6 discharges per day and 6+ admits.

Shift & Scheduling:
Travelers work every other weekend; night weekend shifts are Friday/Saturday/Sunday.
Call or standby could happen if census is low, but not often; any such requirement would be included in the contract.

Travelers are typically the first to float and may be floated anywhere in the hospital, including ICU and Stepdown; however, they will only be assigned patients within their skill set.
