Experience:

• 2 years of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 2 years of Telemetry Unit experience with 12 months within the last 36 months (3 years).

• Experience with Cerner is preferred.

Requirements:

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: Experience caring for stroke patients is required. Prior telemetry, stepdown, or PCU experience is required. Must be able to read and interpret their own telemetry strips.

Special Requests: An interview may not be available prior to offer. At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to. Cannot apply to more than one job order on the same unit and shift at the facility. Must disclose previous employment on your resume or elsewhere within the submission for a DNU check. Cannot have been employed as a permanent or per diem employee by another CommonSpirit facility within the past 12 months. Cannot have a second job and must prioritize the travel assignment schedule. Set scheduling is not accommodated.

Shift & Scheduling: Two weekends every four weeks. Work one major and two minor holidays, same as core staff. No call. When placed on standby, response time is 30 minutes. Extra shifts may be available at times.

Floating Requirements: Floats first to the 5th-, 6th-, and 7th-floor Med-Surg/Telemetry units.

Unit Details: High-acuity cardiac telemetry has PCU/stepdown-level acuity. GE telemetry monitoring is used; telemetry is monitored on a different unit by monitor technicians, and monitors are also present on the unit. Patients include post-CVA/stroke, rule-out CHF, respiratory failure, diabetes, hypertension, and postoperative cases. Non-titrating drips may include Cardizem; heparin is the only titrated drip, and insulin drips are not used. BiPAP is used. Some patients are post-cardiac cath or post-PCI; travelers are not assigned cath/PCI patients. Travelers may not always have a nurse aide and may need to perform primary nursing. Hospitalist coverage is in-house 24/7; respiratory therapy and pharmacy are available 24/7, and no IV team is available.
