Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: A traveler with 1 year of experience is accepted, but the experience must be in interventional Cath Lab, not just diagnostic Cath Lab experience. Required experience includes STEMI/NSTEMI, LHC/RHC, CHF, angina, ACS, Afib, IABP/Impella, CTOs, staged/protected PCI, pericardiocentesis, and temporary pacemakers. Required skills include groin-site management (techs usually pull sheaths, but RNs may need to manage the site), radial-band management (VascBand), moderate sedation, drip titration, knowledge of emergency drugs, efficient use of defibrillators/pacemakers, recognizing rhythm changes, and knowing when and which anticoagulant to administer. A drug card is provided on the badge for easy reference. RNs do not need ventilator experience but must be comfortable addressing ventilator alarms, including distinguishing critical alarms from error alarms that do not require intervention.

Special Requests: You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit & shift at the same facility). For example, if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit & facility. You must include a proof of address document to apply. The document must be in your name and match the address on your profile. Documents other than the following will not be accepted: Lease or Mortgage Agreement; Utility Bill; Vehicle Registration; Property Tax Forms. Approval of RTO must go through the manager. Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed on the front end.

Unit Details: The Cardiac Cath Lab sees 20-25 patients per day. Case mix includes EP procedures such as pacemakers, MICRA, lead extractions/revisions, generator changes, and ablations; vascular procedures including peripheral cases and carotids; PE procedures using Inari and EKOS; and hybrid/structural procedures including Watchman, TAVR, and PFOs. Experience with these EP, vascular, PE, and hybrid/structural cases is not required. Patients who are not from the ICU go to Cardiovascular Recovery (CVR) after the case. The RN transports patients to the recovery area during the day. Travelers who are here for more than 1 assignment will be trained to monitor. Unit support includes RT and hospitalist coverage 24/7, a cardiologist on call, and an RRT/code team. The unit uses XPER (Philips) hemodynamic monitoring, IntellaSpace PACS, and Omnicell medication dispensing. Equipment includes Plum 360 IV pumps, Medtronic ACT machine, Rotapro, CSI, shockwave, laser, Rotablator, FFR, and IVUS. Experience with the Medtronic ACT machine, Rotapro, CSI, shockwave, laser, Rotablator, FFR, and IVUS is not required.

Shift & Scheduling: On call every 4th weekend, from Friday EOS until Monday at 0630. Weekdays include 1 call night per week and possibly 1 late shift per week. Weekday call runs from EOS until 0630 the following morning. Late shifts stay late until the cases are done but are not on call afterward; late shifts and call shifts are not worked concurrently. Call coverage uses a 4-person team consisting of 2 RNs and 2 techs. The RN will not be on call prior to a day off. Call response time is 30 minutes. One major and one minor seasonal holiday are required per contract. 10/18/2023 – RN will need to be on call Christmas Day. Schedule cycle: 3-6 weeks.

Floating Requirements: Floating may be to IR or Cardiovascular Recovery (CVR); prior experience in those areas is not required.
