Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Experience:
• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.
• 18 months of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience.
• Experience with Epic is preferred.
• Experience with Cerner is preferred.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).
• This role will require floating to multiple units
• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >65 miles from facility to be submitted.
• Flu vaccination required for submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.
• Anyone who worked as Staff at a facility in this program in the last 6 months cannot be submitted.
• Anyone currently working at a facility in this program cannot be submitted.

Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience: - First-time travelers are accepted if they have at least 18 months of MedSurg experience and Epic or Cerner experience. - 6 North Trauma Surgical requires at least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience, wound care, chest tubes, NGT, and IV skills. - 5 South Neuroscience requires IV starts, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG and NGT care, colostomy/ostomy care, wound care, chest tubes, surgical site care, C-collars, abdominal binders, and restraints. - 5 North MedSurg/Oncology requires trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, Foley care, IV starts, and chemo administration if certified. - 3 South Orthopedics requires PCA pumps, wound care with negative-pressure dressings, dressing changes, Foley care, and Hemovac/JP drains. - 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology requires trach care, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts, and CVL dressing changes.
Preferred Skills/Experience: - Chemo experience is highly preferred.
Special Requests: - Only 1 active application is allowed for the same position (same unit and shift at the same facility). For example, if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day-shift position on the same unit and facility. - You must include a proof-of-address document to apply. The document must be in your name and match the address on your profile. Only a lease or mortgage agreement, utility bill, vehicle registration, or property tax form will be accepted. - Staff must be away for 6 months before returning as a traveler; the interval is measured from the last shift worked to the start date. - Clinicians will not necessarily be scheduled on the expected holiday dates, and being off on those dates is not contractually guaranteed before arrival. - RTO dates requiring approval include Martin Luther King Jr. Day (1/19), Valentine’s Day week (2/13-15), the entire month of March, Easter weekend (4/3-4/5), Mother’s Day weekend (5/8-10), Memorial Day week (5/23-5/25), Father’s Day weekend (6/19-21), Fourth of July (7/3-7/5), Labor Day weekend (9/5-9/7), Halloween (10/30-11/1), Thanksgiving (11/25-11/29), and Christmas and New Year’s (12/18-1/1).
Unit Details: - Potential assignments include 6 North Trauma Surgical for general surgery and vascular surgery patients. - Potential assignments include 5 South Neuroscience for CVA, TBI, seizure, altered mental status, spinal fusion, craniotomy, degenerative disease, post-trauma, and angiogram patients. - Potential assignments include 5 North MedSurg/Oncology for all patient types except stroke and MI, including palliative-care and alcohol-withdrawal patients. - Potential assignments include 4 South Clinical Decision Unit for general MedSurg patients, including COPD, CHF, diabetes, MRSA, VRE, C. diff, COVID, pneumonia, renal failure, sepsis, UTI, and end-of-life comfort care. - Potential assignments include 3 South Orthopedics for orthopedic and spine patients, including joint replacements, fractures, fusions, and laminectomies. - Potential assignments include 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology for urology, ENT, orthopedic, and MedSurg patients. - Patient ratios vary by unit: 1:5-6 on 6 North Trauma Surgical, 5 South Neuroscience, 4 South Clinical Decision Unit, and 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology; 1:6 for RNs on 5 North MedSurg/Oncology; and 1:5 or 1:6 if MedSurg on 3 South Orthopedics. - Care may include tracheotomy care, suctioning, oxygen therapy, ostomy care, Foley and external catheter care, PEG/NGT care and use, wound care, chest tubes, central line care, pressure-ulcer management and prevention, falls-prevention management, and restraints. - Telemetry is monitored on hallway monitors and by telemetry technicians on the ground floor; RNs must interpret and confirm strip readings every 4 hours. - Equipment includes Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors.
Shift & Scheduling: - Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week. - Weekend rotation is every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month. - No call. - One major and one minor seasonal holiday are expected per policy.
Floating Requirements: - Floating may include any like unit or patient location: MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds, ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or a limit of 3, and ICU-ER/ICU holds.
10 days maximum time off.
