Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Experience:
• 18 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.
• 12 months of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience.
• Experience with Epic is preferred.
• Experience with Cerner is preferred.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).
• This role will require floating to multiple units
• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >65 miles from facility to be submitted.
• Flu vaccination required for submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.
• Anyone who worked as Staff at a facility in this program in the last 6 months cannot be submitted.
• Anyone currently working at a facility in this program cannot be submitted.

Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience: First-time travelers are accepted with a minimum of 18 months experience in MedSurg and/or ICU with Epic or Cerner experience. If experience is strictly ICU, Cerner is required. 6 North Trauma Surgical requires at least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience, wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration/documentation, and escalation skills. 5 South Neuroscience requires IV starts, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG, NGT, colostomy/ostomy care, wound care, chest tubes, surgical site care, C-collars, abdominal binders, and restraints. 5 North MedSurg/Oncology requires trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, Foley care, IV starts, and chemo administration if certified. 3 South Orthopedics requires wound care with negative-pressure dressings, dressing changes, Foley care, and hemovac/JP drain care. 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology requires trach care, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts, and CVL dressing changes.
Preferred Skills/Experience: Chemo experience is highly preferred for 5 North MedSurg/Oncology.
Special Requests: You can have only 1 active application for the same position (same unit and shift at the same facility). For example, you may apply for day shift and night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit and facility. Staff must be gone for 6 months before returning as a traveler, measured from the last shift worked to the start date. RTO dates requiring approval for this assignment include Thanksgiving: 11/25-11/29 and Christmas and New Year’s: 12/18-1/1. Parking is limited to the 2nd through 4th levels of the parking deck.
Unit Details: 6 North Trauma Surgical cares for general surgery and vascular surgery patients. 5 South Neuroscience cares for patients with CVA, TBI, seizures, AMS, spinal fusion, craniotomy, degenerative diseases, post-trauma conditions, and angiogram cases. 5 North MedSurg/Oncology cares for all patient types except stroke and MI, including palliative care, ETOH withdrawal, and MS/Oncology patients. 4 South Clinical Decision Unit cares for general MedSurg patients, including COPD, CHF, diabetes, MRSA, VRE, C. diff, COVID, pneumonia, renal failure, sepsis, UTI, and end-of-life comfort care. 3 South Orthopedics cares for orthopedic and spine patients, including joint replacements, fractures, fusions, and laminectomies. 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology cares for urology, ENT, orthopedic, and MedSurg patients. The 3 South Orthopedics patient ratio is 1:5, or 1:6 if MedSurg. Common care includes tracheotomy care, suctioning, O2 therapy, ostomy care, Foley care, external catheter care, PEG/NGT care and use, wound care, chest tubes, central line care, pressure ulcer management and preventive measures, falls prevention management, and restraints. Telemetry is monitored on hallway monitors and by telemetry techs on the ground floor; RNs are required to interpret and confirm strip readings q4 hours. PCA pumps are used on 3 South Orthopedics. The unit uses Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors.
Shift & Scheduling: Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week. Weekend rotation: every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month. No call. Holiday expectations include one major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy. These dates are not automatically scheduled, but time off on them is not contractually guaranteed before arrival. The schedule runs on a 4-week cycle; self-scheduling is not available, and Smart Square is used for scheduling.
Floating Requirements: Floating includes any like unit/patient location: MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds, ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, and ICU-ER/ICU holds.
7 days maximum time off.
