Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Experience:
• 18 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.
• 2 years of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience with 1 month within the last 12 months.
• Experience with Epic is required.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Wisconsin license or compact license (required for submission).
• This role may require floating to additional units and locations
• Local & travel allowed.

Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience: - Required skills include chest tubes, stable tracheostomy management, IV skills, port/central lines, Foley insertion/care, feeding tubes, and cardiac rhythm interpretation; knowledge of CPAP/BiPAP/Airvo is required, with RT managing the equipment. - Comfort managing insulin and heparin/argatroban drips is required. - Experience titrating Cardizem and amiodarone drips is required.
Unit Details: - The unit cares for oncology patients, including patients receiving chemotherapy, and includes surgical cases such as gallbladder, appendectomy, colectomy, ostomy, and TURP; general medical cases such as cellulitis, GI bleeds, CHF, COPD, and outpatient antibiotic/fluid infusions; observation for chest pain, dizziness, syncope, and TIA versus stroke; orthopedic cases including total hips, total knees, and shoulders; neuro cases including spine surgeries, strokes, and altered mental status; and cardiac cases including post-procedure cath, TEE, cardioversion, heart failure, chest pain, and cardiac arrhythmias. - Some pediatric patients (>1 yr. old) are on the floor; no pediatric experience is required, and this assignment will not take pediatric patients. - Patient ratios are 1:4-6 on days and 1:6 on nights. - Unit coordinator (HUC) support is available on day shifts only. - Phlebotomy performs peripheral lab draws, and anesthesia or ED tech/RN resources are available for hard sticks through the house supervisor. - Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. - A hospitalist is available 24/7 through secure chat. - OT, PT, and ST are available on weekdays, with limited weekend hours. - Remote telemetry is monitored by a telemetry technician; nurses may be asked to monitor patients if telemetry staffing is short. - The unit uses Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing.
Shift & Scheduling: - Weekend rotation: Every 3rd weekend. - Holiday requirement: 2 holidays/year. - May be put on call for a shift and must arrive when called in within 30 minutes. - Schedules are made 4-6 weeks at a time and provided 2 weeks in advance.
Floating Requirements: - This position floats between Medical/Surgical units: MS1, MS2, GLMS, CMS2, and IP Holdover.
Special Requests: - Block scheduling will be considered if requested, but is not guaranteed. - RTO requests must go through the manager.
