Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

Experience:

• 18 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 2 years of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience with 1 month within the last 12 months.

• Experience with Epic is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Wisconsin license or compact license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Local & travel allowed.

• Anyone who worked as Staff at a facility in this program in the last 12 months cannot be submitted.

• Anyone currently working at a facility in this program cannot be submitted.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: Required skills include chest tubes, stable tracheostomy management, IV skills, port and central line care, Foley insertion and care, feeding tubes, and cardiac rhythm interpretation. Knowledge of CPAP, BiPAP, and Airvo is required; respiratory therapy manages the equipment. Required drip-titration skills include Cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, and argatroban.

Special Requests: Block scheduling may be considered if requested, but is not guaranteed. RTO requests must go through the manager for approval.

Unit Details: MS1 General Medical-Surgical cares for oncology patients, including patients receiving chemotherapy; travelers will not have to administer chemotherapy. The floor includes some pediatric patients older than 1 year, but travelers will not take pediatric patients. Surgical cases include gallbladder procedures, appendectomies, colectomies, ostomies, and TURPs. General medical cases include cellulitis, GI bleeds, CHF, COPD, and outpatient antibiotic or fluid infusions. MS2 Ortho/Neuro includes observation for chest pain, dizziness, and syncope; orthopedic cases include total hips, total knees, and shoulders; neurological cases include spine surgeries, strokes, altered mental status, and TIA-versus-stroke observation. MS2 Cardiac includes post-procedure cath, TEE, and cardioversion cases, as well as heart failure, chest pain, and cardiac arrhythmias. Night-shift patient ratios are 1:6. Peripheral lab draws are provided by phlebotomy. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. Hospitalist coverage is available 24/7 via secure chat. OT, PT, and ST are available on weekdays, with limited weekend hours. Remote telemetry is monitored by a tele tech; if tele tech coverage is short, nurses may be asked to monitor patients. Uses Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing.

Shift & Scheduling: Weekend rotation is every weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). Schedules are made 4-6 weeks at a time and provided 2 weeks in advance. No call. Could work 50% of the holidays in a contract.

Floating Requirements: Floating may include all inpatient units and Boarding; frequent floating to ER Holding/Boarding is likely.
