Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

Experience:

• 18 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 24 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience with 1 month within the last 12 months.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

• Trauma Level 1 experience is required.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: Trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, insulin drips, heparin drips, HR-titrated drips (not BP), IV insertion and care, central line management, wound care, post-op monitoring, groin management, Foley insertion/care/maintenance, and cardiac monitoring/telemetry interpretation.

Required Credentials: Basic cardiac rhythm (BCR): EKG competency exam required as part of compliance.

Special Requests: RTO requests require manager approval.

Unit Details: Adult Med/Surg-Tele population with heart failure, A-fib, acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, respiratory failure, COPD, asthma, NSTEMI, sepsis, and diabetes. Includes patients with acute or chronic disease, post-op surgeries, and post-cardiac procedures; common comorbidities include diabetes, hypertension, infections, CHF, and electrolyte imbalances. Uses Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, Philips monitors, VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova glucose test strips, cardiac telemetry monitoring, portable vital-sign monitors, bladder scanners, portable oxygen systems, external fixators, chest tubes, JP drains, Hemovac drains, Glucommander, PCA pain management, and suction machines. Support includes CNAs, central telemetry monitoring, a unit secretary 7 AM-11 PM, a PICC team, discharge nurses, and a resource team that floats to all units.

Shift & Scheduling: Weekend rotation: 5-6 weekend shifts out of 12 on a 6-week schedule. No call. Works one shift for each major holiday: Thanksgiving Day or the day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1. Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks.

Floating Requirements: Floats to all adult Med/Surg and telemetry units in house.

14 days maximum time off

1 Manager/Supervisor reference required from within the last 12 months

1 Charge/Lead reference required from within the last 12 months

• BLS (Basic Life Support)

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

• CMSRN (Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse) or the alternative certification RN-BC
