Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 18 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 18 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience with 1 month within the last 12 months.

• Travel experience is preferred.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a North Carolina license or compact license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: Additional skills required for 7N/S Ortho Surgical: ortho experience; spinal precautions.

Preferred Skills/Experience: First-time travelers are not preferred, but will be considered.

Special Requests: RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays; must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours.

Unit Details: Med/Tele resource team may work across overflow, orthopedic/surgical, medical telemetry, cardiac telemetry, observation, detox, and behavioral health populations. ADTU: Med/Tele overflow area supporting all inpatient units and ED holding; common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, chest pain workups, stroke signs/symptoms, and respiratory issues; testing is prioritized. 7N/S Ortho Surgical: General medical overflow and surgical patients including total joint replacements (knees, hips, shoulders), spinal surgery (laminectomies, discectomies, fusions), and shoulder procedures. 6S Medical Telemetry: COPD, respiratory illnesses, diabetic ulcer, abdominal pain, pancreatitis, altered mental status, and ESRD. 5N Surgical Telemetry: General medical telemetry overflow and surgical patients including bariatric weight loss surgery, urology procedures, general post-op, GI bleed, small bowel obstruction, and foot and ankle surgery. 4N Cardiac Medical Telemetry: Congestive heart failure, pulmonary edema, hypertension, stroke, cardiac arrhythmias, endocarditis, and initial cardiac workups for chest pain and/or shortness of breath; includes prep for cardiac stress testing. 3N Medical Telemetry: End-stage renal disease, PD, fluid overload, sickle cell, DM, altered mental status, cellulitis, diabetic ulcers, pancreatitis, and behavioral health. 2N Medical: Med/Tele observation and detox populations; common diagnoses include new DM, chest pain, rule-out stroke, abdominal pain, GI bleed, detox, suicidal ideation, and altered mental status. RN ratio: 1:5-6; critical surge 1:7-8. General Med/Tele skillset includes stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, Foley insertion/management), PCA pumps, and medication gtt management including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF. Uses Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors. Department support includes CNA, receptionist/HUC, phlebotomy for peripheral blood draws, IV/VAT team (11a-7p, 11p-7a), RT and hospitalist 24/7, and intensivist coverage; no telemetry monitoring tech.

Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend. No call. Travelers will work 75% of holidays. Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks.

Floating Requirements: Float to all units within scope at Mercy and within Region 3 as needed: Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, and Central Division (CMC Main, Mercy, LCH), within scope of practice.

6 days maximum time off

1 Manager/Supervisor reference required from within the last 12 months

1 Charge/Lead reference required from within the last 12 months
