Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 12 months within the last 36 months (3 years).

• 12 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience with 12 months within the last 36 months (3 years).

• Travel experience is preferred.

• Trauma Level 4 experience is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Michigan license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <80 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• Flu vaccination required after submission. Religious, medical, and personal declinations accepted.

• Anyone who worked as Staff at a facility in this program in the last 6 months cannot be submitted.

• Anyone currently working at a facility in this program cannot be submitted.

Additional Details:

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to.

Required Skills/Experience: 1 year of MS/MS-Tele experience (acute care experience) required. Must be comfortable with IV starts.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Experience/knowledge of TURPs with CBI preferred. Critical Access or Trauma Level 3 or 4 experience preferred.

Special Requests: Must take full 6 months off from any Sanford Health or Good Samaritan Society location as well. Must disclose previous employment on your resume or elsewhere within the submission for a DNU check. Each employment history entry must include all the following: detailed duties, hospital size, unit size, trauma level (if applicable), patient ratio, teaching facility. Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained. If you previously worked with Marshfield, you must have an end date 6 months prior to your submission date. Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed; longer blocks of 6 shifts may be considered when possible, and the team will try to accommodate self-scheduling.

Unit Details: The unit can have 10 observation/day-surgery patients. Patient ratios are 5:1 on day shift and 6:1 at 11 PM; LPNs work until 11 PM, and team nursing with LPNs uses 2:7 ratios. Common diagnoses include NHP, cellulitis, UTI, COPD, GU, pacemaker patients, sepsis, and nursing home placements. Day-surgery cases include ortho procedures involving hips and knees, choles, appys, and TURPs with CBI. A small pediatric population (3/year) is not assigned to travelers unless they have prior experience or no other options. Limited resources are onsite; there is no IV team, and respiratory therapy oversees the entire hospital. Hospitalist or intensivist coverage is in-house until 6 PM daily, then provided via telemedicine. Respiratory therapy support is available 24/7. Equipment includes CPAP. Basic telemetry arrhythmia knowledge is used, with a physical monitor at the nurses’ desk. The charge nurse takes an assignment; travelers may be placed as relief charge.

Shift & Scheduling: Weekend rotation is every other weekend, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Must work 2 of 3 holidays. There is potential to be placed on call/standby.

Floating Requirements: Must be able to float to like units and patients.

14 days maximum time off

2 Charge/Lead/Supervisor references required from within the last 12 months

Driver’s license required for submission
