Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 12 months within the last 36 months (3 years).

• 12 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience with 12 months within the last 36 months (3 years).

• Travel experience is preferred.

• Trauma Level 4 experience is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Michigan license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <80 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• Flu vaccination required after submission. Religious, medical, and personal declinations accepted.

• Anyone who worked as Staff at a facility in this program in the last 6 months cannot be submitted.

• Anyone currently working at a facility in this program cannot be submitted.

Additional Details:

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to. Resume: Each employment history entry must include all the following: detailed duties, hospital size, unit size, trauma level (if applicable), patient ratio, teaching facility.

Required Skills/Experience: 1 year of MS/MS-Tele experience (acute care). Must be comfortable with IV starts.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Experience/knowledge of TURP/CBI preferred. Trauma Level 3 experience preferred.

Special Requests: Eligibility as Current/Previous Employee: Must take full 6 months off from any Sanford Health or Good Samaritan Society location as well. Must disclose previous employment on your resume or elsewhere within the submission for a DNU check. Former Marshfield employees must have an end date 6 months prior to the submission date. Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained. Block scheduling can’t be guaranteed (longer blocks of 6 shifts may be considered when able), but self-scheduling is accommodated when possible.

Unit Details: The unit can have 10 observation/day surgeries. Nurse-patient ratios are 5:1 for day shift and 6:1 at 11 p.m.; LPNs work until 11 p.m.; team nursing with LPNs uses 2:7 ratios. Common diagnoses include NHP, cellulitis, UTI, COPD, GU, pacemaker, sepsis, nursing home placements, day-surgical orthopedics (hips and knees), choles, appys, and TURPs/CBI. A small pediatric population (3/year) is not given to travelers unless they have prior experience or there are no other options. The unit has limited onsite resources; no IV team is available, and respiratory therapy oversees the entire hospital. A charge nurse carries an assignment, and travelers may be placed as relief charge. A hospitalist or intensivist is onsite until 6 p.m. daily; telemedicine coverage is used afterward. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. CPAP equipment is available. Basic telemetry arrhythmia knowledge is needed; the physical monitor is at the nurses’ desk.

Shift & Scheduling: Night shift: 1900-0700. Weekend rotation is every other weekend, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Work 2/3 holidays. There is an opportunity/potential to be placed on call/standby.

Floating Requirements: Must be able to float to like units and patients.

14 days maximum time off

2 Charge/Lead/Supervisor references required from within the last 12 months

Driver’s license required for submission
