Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 24 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 24 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months within the last 36 months (3 years).

• Experience with Epic is required.

• BSN completion required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Idaho license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >50 miles from facility to be submitted.

• 12 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - St. Luke’s Health System and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - St. Luke’s Health System.

Additional Details:

Resume: Each employment history entry must include detailed duties, hospital size, unit size, trauma level (if applicable), patient ratio, and whether the facility is a teaching facility.

Required Skills/Experience: Must be able to read and interpret telemetry.

Special Requests: Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained. Previous employees may be considered only with an exception approved by St. Luke’s Health System. At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job.

Unit Details: Nurse:patient ratio is typically 1:5, with occasional 1:6 that very rarely happens. Cares for total joints; orthopedic hip fractures; lumbar and cervical spine surgeries; urology procedures including CBI; general surgeries including cholecystectomies, bowel resections, and complicated mastectomies; GYN overflow including total hysterectomies; and medical overflow including COPD, some behavioral health, sepsis, and infections. Uses heparin, PCA, and morphine drips; no titratable drips. Charge nurse on each shift; may take patients if needed. Day shift also has an ADT nurse to assist with admits, discharges, and tasking. Nurse aides/patient care techs are staffed at 1:8. Uses CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow; RT manages CPAP and BiPAP. Virtual telemetry techs; RNs read and interpret their own strips. Uses SpaceLab telemetry and is transitioning to Philips. Expected to take students and may precept new travelers.

Shift & Scheduling: 5 weekend shifts in a 6 week period; travelers are utilized to fill in gaps. Holidays if there is a need.

Floating Requirements: First to float. Will float between MedSurg 5 and MedSurg 6. Can also float to like units in Treasure Valley, including Boise Medical Center and Nampa Medical Center, and may float to the ER for holds or to be a 1:1.

14 days maximum time off

1 Charge/Lead reference required from within the last 3 years
