Medical Surgical Unit - Travel Registered Nurse- $2120 per week.

Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM

Experience:

• 2 years of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 2 years of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months within the last 36 months (3 years).

• Travel experience is required.

• Experience with Epic is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a West Virginia license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >50 miles from facility to be submitted.

• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• Anyone who worked as Staff at a facility in this program in the last 24 months cannot be submitted.

• Anyone who worked as a traveler at a facility in this program in the last 24 months cannot be submitted.

• Anyone currently working at a facility in this program cannot be submitted.

Additional Details:

Artificial nails are not allowed for any travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed.

Required Skills/Experience

• Strong knowledge of Med-Surg, infectious disease, and isolation precautions is required.

Special Requests

• If candidate worked a perm facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from perm facility.
• Eligibility as Current/Previous Employee: cumulative experience applies for previous travelers.
• References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to.
• Travelers will be scheduled where they are needed.
• Block scheduling will be allowed as long as the needs of the unit are met.

Unit Details

• All rooms are private due to infectious diseases.
• Patient ratios are 1:5-6, or 1:4 for COVID patients.
• Patient population includes infectious disease and isolation cases, including COVID-19, MRSA, and C. difficile.
• No cardiac drips are used on the unit.
• Common titratable or set-rate medications include heparin and other typical Med-Surg IV medications, antibiotics, and similar medications.
• There are no ventilators; patients may receive CPAP, BiPAP, or high-flow oxygen managed by respiratory therapy.
• Remote telemetry is monitored from the third floor with monitors at the desk; RNs do not have to read or interpret strips.

Shift & Scheduling

• Every other weekend.
• Night weekend shifts are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
• Holiday work depends on unit needs; travelers will be expected to work holidays if permanent staff coverage is insufficient.

Floating Requirements

• Travelers are first to float to any Med-Surg unit; if floated to Telemetry, they will be assigned patients within their skill set.

14 days maximum time off

1 Charge/Lead/Supervisor reference required from within the last 2 years
