Unit Details: Patient population includes stroke, spine surgery, seizures, brain tumors, head injuries, other neuroscience cases, and some medical overflow. Nurses titrate drips; heparin is titrated based on PTT. High-flow oxygen is used only for stable COVID-19 patients, which are rare. The unit uses house-wide telemetry; nurses do not need to read their own strips. Philips monitors are used. Nurse-to-patient ratios: day shift 1:4-5; night shift 1:5-6.
