Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 2 years of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 2 years of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months within the last 36 months (3 years).

• Experience with Cerner is preferred.

Requirements:

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: Telemetry experience is also required. 2-3 years of experience in the specialty.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Pediatric experience is preferred; if a traveler does not have that experience, they will not take pediatric patients.

Unit Details: The unit serves adult and pediatric med-surgical telemetry patients. Common diagnoses and patient types include med-surgical patients, COPD, postoperative patients, GI bleeds, OB/GYN surgeries, orthopedic patients, sepsis, altered mental status, chest-pain rule-outs, stroke, cellulitis, and alcohol withdrawal. RNs titrate heparin; common titratable or set-rate drips include heparin and Protonix. Respiratory therapy equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow. The unit is very fast-paced, with patients moving in and out quickly; average length of stay is 3 days.

Shift & Scheduling: Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule. Holidays are worked as part of the permanent staff rotation. There is a call or standby requirement. Self-scheduling is allowed to some degree; schedules are made out about 30-45 days in advance.

Floating Requirements: The clinician will be first to float.
