Experience:
• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.
• 12 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months worked in the last 3 years.
• Travel experience is required.
• Experience with Epic is preferred.
• Trauma Level 1 experience is required.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Illinois license (required for submission).
• This role may require floating to additional units and locations
• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.
• 12 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare.

Required Skills/Experience: Prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit. Must have heparin gtt experience.
Unit Details: Dedicated neuro Med-Surg acute unit caring for stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, neuroscience, and some medical overflow patients. Nurse-to-patient ratios: days 1:4-5, nights 1:5-6. RNs titrate heparin drips based on PTT. Charge nurse and house supervisor available 24/7; charge nurse does not take an assignment unless staffing is short and nurses would be above ratios. Nurse aides/patient care techs available with ratios of days 1:9-10, evenings 1:9-10, and nights 1:10-12. High flow for stable COVID patients only, very rarely. House-wide telemetry; nurses do not read their own strips. Phillips monitors.
Special Requests: Will block if it is possible with staffing.
Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend; Saturday and Sunday are considered the weekend for both shifts. Every other holiday. No call.
Floating Requirements: Float in rotation with the rest of staff. General unit travelers float to general unit floors and take a full team. If floated outside of a general unit in urgent need, will only do skills they are competent to perform and will be assigned with a nurse trained for that unit.

1 Charge/Lead reference required from within the last 12 months
1 reference required from within the last 3 years
Driver’s license required for submission
