Experience:
• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.
• 2 years of Telemetry Unit experience.
• Experience with Meditech is preferred.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Louisiana license or compact license (required after submission).
• This role will require floating to multiple units
• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience: First-time travelers are accepted, but must have 2 years of permanent staff RN experience in acute care. Travelers who were previously permanent staff must have a 1-year separation. Required skills include wound management, JP drains, wound vacs, hemodialysis catheter care, fistulas, PCA, pain management, cardiac rhythm interpretation (telemetry capabilities), and non-titratable cardiac drips.
Required Credentials: Travelers must pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance before arrival (including Med/Surg RNs).
Special Requests: Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested; the assignment must be extended by 1 week for every full week requested off. Only 1 weekend of RTO may be requested per 13-week contract.
Unit Details: The patient population has a heavy focus on urology postoperative patients, including robotic radical and simple prostatectomies, partial cystectomies, partial nephrectomies, open radical nephrectomies, and nephroureterectomies. Med/Surg overflow includes sepsis, cellulitis, DVT/PE, CHF, COPD, COVID, and pneumonia. Occasional postoperative overflow includes total joints (knees, hips, and shoulders) and GI/abdominal surgeries such as hemicolectomies and bowel resections. The RN patient ratio is 1:5-6, with 1:6 on nights. HUC/secretary support is available on day shift only. Phlebotomy is in house, and RNs draw CVL/PICC/Midline. The IV/VAT team is available 7a-3p for PICC placement. RT is in house. A hospitalist is in house for most patients. OT, PT, and ST are available. Uses Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing.
Shift & Scheduling: The schedule is 4 days one week and 3 days the next week; this is mandatory. Weekend rotation is every other weekend. No call. Will work 2/3 holidays.
Floating Requirements: Travelers float first to any Med/Surg area within the hospital.
7 days maximum time off
2 Charge/Lead/Supervisor references required from within the last 12 months
