Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Experience:
• 12 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.
• 18 months of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience.
• Experience with Cerner is required.
• Experience with Epic is required.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).
• This role will require floating to multiple units
• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >60 miles from facility to be submitted.
• 6 months gap required between for Staff at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB and no current placement allowed at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB.

Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience: First-time travelers accepted with a minimum of 18 months of MedSurg and/or ICU experience and Epic or Cerner experience required. If strictly ICU experience, Cerner is required. 6 North Trauma Surgical: At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience; wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration/documentation, and escalations. 5 South Neuroscience: IV starts, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG, NGT, colostomy/ostomy, wound care, chest tubes, surgical site care, C-collar, abdominal binders, and restraints. 5 North MedSurg/Oncology: Trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, foleys, IV starts; chemo administration, if certified. 3 South Orthopedics: PCA pumps, wound care (negative pressure dressing), dressing changes, foley, drains (Hemovacs/JP drains). 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology: Trach care, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts, CVL dressing changes, and follow nurse-driven foley protocol. Telemetry interpretation and q4 strip confirmation required.
Preferred Skills/Experience: Chemo experience highly preferred but not required.
Special Requests: You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit and shift at the same facility). Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit and facility. Staff must be gone for 6 months before returning as a traveler, from last shift worked to start date. Holiday time off is not contractually guaranteed prior to arrival. Up to 7 days off may be approved excluding blackout dates; blackout dates require NM/Eanh approval. Unit Details: Typically, 1:4 ratio. With the lower ratio, RNs are expected to turn patients and assist with baths and ADLs. 6 North Trauma Surgical: General surgery and vascular surgery patients. 5 South Neuroscience: CVA, TBI, seizure, AMS, spinal fusion, craniotomy, degenerative diseases, post-trauma, and angiogram patients. 5 North MedSurg/Oncology: MS/oncology, palliative care, ETOH withdrawal, and other high-acuity fast-paced MedSurg patients except stroke and MI. Tele monitoring on hallway monitors and by tele techs on the ground floor. 3 South Orthopedics: Orthopedic and spine patients including joint replacements, fractures, fusions, and laminectomies. 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology: Urology, ENT, ortho, and MedSurg patients. Uses Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors.
Shift & Scheduling: Weekend rotation: every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month. No call. One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy. Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week. 4-week schedule cycle; no self-scheduling; utilize Smart Square.
Floating Requirements: Any like unit/patient location (MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, ICU-ER/ICU holds).
7 days maximum time off.
